How Far Would You Go To Find That "One"?

After publishing, ’Til I Find You, I met up with some very interesting characters at a book signing event. The question of the day was, “How far would you go to find that one if you truly believed that he was out there?” I expected responses like, “I’d move house, I’d migrate, I’d leave my current boyfriend”, stuff like that. I got way more than that!

One lady told me she’d snuck into a gated, highly secured hotel room to meet her “soul mate”, a popular reggae singer. She’d put on her best running shoes to scale the back gate, and just in case she got spotted and had to make a run for it. She did get caught and thrown out on her “tooch” but she also got an autograph and a dinner invite from said celebrity.

Another guy, a visitor, had moved to Madagascar to meet a girl who he had been corresponding with via the internet for more than a year. He planned on marrying her the first chance he got but what he hadn’t planned was getting caught in a storm, hitching a ride with a crazy drunken sea captain and arriving in Madagascar 2 weeks late. However, he was well compensated for his troubles because they got married six months later.

A 20‐year‐old woman from England worked her way through the islands for six months on various boats ‐ catamarans, sailing boats, motor boats, because she dreamt of finding her soul mate in the Caribbean.

Some of their strategies worked while others fell flat, but they got points in my books for trying. How far would I go to find that one? I’d close shop right now and get a move on it if I was certain he was out there! I’d steal, I’d cheat, I’d lie to find him. Ok…now that’s just me being over dramatic and silly. I’d let him do the stealing, cheating and lying but I wouldn’t judge. What would you do?

After years of excruciatingly embarrassing dates, the 25-year-old receptionist is ready to hand in her dating license, but her cynical cousin, Drew, will not let her. She knows that finding Mr. Right has always been Tisha’s ultimate goal in life and short of joining the search herself, Drew plans on doing whatever it is in her power to help Tisha find him. When they cross paths with two best friends and a very sexy entrepreneur, there’s a slight change in plans.

Drew who has always been adamant about keeping her single status begins to doubt her immunity to Tisha’s lovesickness.

Tisha has hit the jackpot with not one but two perfect dates! Where next will her quest for love take her when she decides to upgrade her relationship—with both men!

Two not-so-sweet cousins, three not-so-honest men. With the many potholes and crossroads along the way, will Tisha ever reach her destination?

Book Excerpt:

There’s something about a small, pointy nose that makes you want to kiss it. Dwight Harrison was not a nose person, but the young woman sitting across from him on the bus had one of those cute kissable noses, and for the past fifteen minutes, he hadn’t been able to tear his eyes away from her. It wasn’t every day you happened to see a small, pretty black woman with such a thin aristocratic nose. And somehow it looked perfect on her face.

She had on large dark glasses that rested on top of it and tiny headphones that disappeared into her ears, and she seemed to be almost dancing in her seat. Her hair was pulled tightly into a bun on top of her head with a pink band which matched her pink mini-skirt and sneakers.

He looked out the window at the thinning shrubbery. They would soon be in town. His reflection looked back at him, a bit blurry, from the lightly tinted glass. He wasn’t bad-looking, he knew, but today handsome would be a more fitting description. His white dress shirt was tucked into long black trousers and his short dark hair was brushed back, exposing a strong manly forehead over dark, naturally shaped eyebrows, piercing dark eyes, a small button nose and a small round mouth. If he added a smile to that, he knew he’d look smashing. Maybe it would be a bad idea to let such an opportunity go to waster.

He looked over at the young woman again, still absorbed in her music. He should ask her out or at least try to make conversation with would end with her phone number in his pocket.

He held on to the overhead bars and made his way toward her. As he took the last step—he was now close enough to touch her—she looked up.

My Book Review:

In 'Til I Find You, author Greta Bondieumaitre weaves an entertaining contemporary romance story set on the tropical island of St. Lucia that follows the dating trials and tribulation of twenty-five year old Tisha Cole and her twenty-three year old cousin Drew Cole.

For the past six years, receptionist Tisha Cole has had a love life from hell: from cheaters, sex changers, to one who abandoned her when she got pregnant, she's seen it all but still believes that there is still one good man out there for her. That is until her latest dating disaster with a dirty older man makes her reconsider being single, so she decides that she's had enough and is off the dating market.

Tisha's cousin Drew doesn't believe in the whole love fantasy, she's a strong hardheaded law student who doesn't see the need in having a man, she has stopped dating altogether. Drew lives vicariously through her cousin's dating horrors, so she tries to help Tisha keep her hopes of meeting Mr Right alive with a made up dating spell.

Love has a funny way of changing things, and these two cousins are in for a surprise when they unexpectedly meet best friends Dwight and Craig. But secrets, deceptions and a sexy entrepreneur named Nathaniel adds more speed bumps along their path to finding love.

'Til I Find You is a fun fast-paced short story that revolves around the dating trials and tribulations of Tisha, Drew, Dwight, and Craig. Filled with humorous dating hell disasters and emotional baggage from the past, the reader follows these four young people as they unexpectedly find love, only to have misunderstandings, miscommunication, secrets, and deceptions threaten to derail their budding romances.

This story will tickle your funny bone, have you shaking your head in amazement at their crazy antics, and finally leave a satisfied smile on your face. The only thing that confused me when reading this story was the author's inclusion of the description of Tisha's large "aristocratic" nose or "beak" as she calls it throughout the story, it made no sense to me why it was so important to be added in the story, other than maybe as an explanation of self-consciousness? I nonetheless enjoyed reading 'Til I Find You, it is an entertaining romantic story of finding true love with speed bumps and crossroads along the way.
